Our RoHS compliant chromate provide a conductive and corrosion protection film on aluminum. Common applications of chromating are electronic components, such as heatsinks and chassis requiring conductivity but oxidation protection.

The European RoHS directive requires the elimination of hexavalent chromium in the manufacturing of electronic equipment. Our RoHS compliant chromate is a tri-valent chromium based clear coating. There is no gold coloured RoHS compliant chromate available. Click here for more information.

Chromate coating is also used as a primer for painting and powder coating of aluminum. The chromate film offers a superior bonding surface for the paint and forestalls the oxidation under the paint if the painted surface is scratched.

The term ‘chromate’ is also referred to as irridite, alodine or chem film.
